Foreign Language Spelling Bee is a competition for students in Year 7 to practise and improve their vocabulary, spelling and memory skills in a foreign language (French, German or Spanish).
We are thrilled to have the continuing sponsorship of Vocab Express! Not only are they hosting the Spelling Bee website, but as a result of their sponsorship competitors’ schools will have free access to their online vocabulary learning platform for the duration of the Spelling Bee, for the words included in the competition. The national winner’s school in each language will also be awarded a free KS3 subscription to Vocab Express for 2020/21.
The Spelling Bee words have been reviewed each year since the competition began. This year, a more substantial revision of the competition words has taken place, informed by the work of NCELP (National Centre for Excellence in Language Pedagogy) - find out more here.
Unfortunately due to the loss of funding we are now having to charge all schools to take part in the Spelling Bee competition. The cost will be £100 for state schools and £175 for non-state schools. Please use this link to pay your school's entry fee before registering for this year's competition https://languageprojects.github.io/
Please note that refunds will not be possible - it is the school's responsibility to ensure that having registered the school participates in the competition.
